On Saturday, September 25, Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land was the title sponsor for MSR Houston Charities’ inaugural “Drive for Kids” event, bringing Houston’s car club communities together to fundraise for Child Advocates and Arms Wide Adoption and support their shared mission of helping children within the foster and legal systems in the Greater Houston Area receive the support they need. In partnership with MSR Houston Charities, additional sponsors, and more than 70 attendees, the “Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land Drive for Kids” event raised over $55,000 in cash donations in support of Child Advocates and Arms Wide Adoption Services.  Sponsors also provided an additional $32,000 of in-kind support to help make the event a success.

“We are so grateful to partner with Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land to present the first annual Drive for Kids event to help shine a light on the needs of children within the legal and foster care systems in Houston and Texas,” said Kurt Hueni, Sales Manager for MSR Houston. “With the generous support of local organizations and the Houston community, we are thrilled and humbled to exceed our fundraising goal for the inaugural “Drive for Kids” event.  The funds and awareness raised will help Child Advocates and Arms Wide Adoption Services continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many local children. Because of the tremendous support, MSR Houston Charities will be able to donate $27,500 to both Child Advocates and Arms Wide Adoption Services”

The event kicked off at 8 a.m. as the event’s emcee, KHOU news anchor Stephanie Simmons, shared welcoming remarks and thanked everyone for their support of MSR Houston Charities and Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land’s efforts to raise awareness about child abuse.

While enjoying the beautiful weather, participants then began taking parade laps around the race track in luxury vehicles including Mercedes-Benz’s, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches, BMWs and more. As a live DJ played music, guests mingled and could also visit a VIP car exhibition, where Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land’s own collection of luxury cars such as Kory Ender’s Indy Pro, McLaren P1, Mercedes-Benz C 63 and SLR were on display.

“Bringing car enthusiasts and the community together to support an important cause is something our dealership deeply values,” said Ken Enders, Owner and President of Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land. “We are so pleased at the incredible turnout for the inaugural Drive for Kids event and look forward to hosting more in the future through our partnership with MSR Houston Charities.”
