Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land hosted the first of our Summer Education Series at the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center (FBCDC). This exclusive event brought to life the captivating story of Bertha Benz, the trailblazing woman behind the first road trip in the summer of 1888 for children in the Sugar Land community.

Families enjoyed private access to the FBCDC, creating a unique and engaging environment for children to explore and learn. The event was designed to spark curiosity, echoing messages of innovation, exploration, and perseverance. Attendees had the opportunity to interact with a model of the original Motorwagen driven by Bertha Benz, emphasizing the historical significance of the first automobile journey.

Participants engaged in a read-along session of “Bertha Takes a Drive”, followed by a discussion about Bertha’s journey and ingenuity. Children also participated in a creative activity, designing their own road trip maps, adding a hands-on element to the learning experience.

Access to Kidtropolis and its many exhibits, including the Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land Precision Car Center, also offered a dynamic summer experience to all attendees. Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land remains dedicated to supporting educational projects and inspiring the next generation of innovators and drivers through exclusive events like this and our Teen Driving Safety School program.

Looking ahead, the next chapter in the MBSL Summer Education Series will take place on July 30 at the FBCDC and feature Clifford the Big Red Dog in an exclusive book titled “Clifford Takes a Ride,” promising another enriching experience for the community.
