Students Passed with Flying Colors at the Teen Driving Safety School
We kicked off the 2017 season of Teen Driving Safety School courses recently and had a great group of students!
The Teen Driving Safety School is an integral part of our mission to help reduce the risk that teens face on the road. The students get to go beyond their driver’s education course and experience extreme situations in a controlled environment alongside professional instructors. The primary emphasis of the MBSL TDSS is to provide “hands-on” driving modules that demonstrate crucial safety and accident avoidance techniques.
One of the parents from our last course shared their thoughts on the program and the experience his teen had at the course which serves as a great reminder as to why we began this program and are dedicated to continue it for many years to come!

The whole family is happy and grateful for this opportunity Mercedes Benz has given to our Son. His excitement about the experience lived at the safety school not only reflects satisfaction for this unique training session, but also the understanding of the importance of the skills they develop to be a safer driver on the road.

Teach your teen (and perhaps yourself) a few simple driving tips:
1) don’t drive too close to the car ahead of you (watch that car pass a marker like a light post or a tree on the highway and you should be able to count off two seconds “1 one thousand, 2 one thousand” before you get to that marker)
2) don’t look down at your cellphone! Eyes up and scanning always.
3) adjust your side mirrors so you can see down the road and just barely see the side of your car as you lean slightly toward either side- do this for each mirror and you’ll catch the important area around you. Then just a quick turn of your head to check the blind spot FIRST then make your move.
Signal of course!
4) don’t drive along side another car just behind them in their blind spot. Especially on a highway. You’ll be invisible. Either pass or fall back. Be seen by the other driver.
5) simple rule: Wipers on? Put headlights on! Be seen.
6) main rule – in a split second you’re dead or paralyzed and you’ll never know how. All you’ll know is regret. Stay focused!!
